| The Peninsula Spa by ESPA is the new calming heart of the legendary Peninsula Hotel. Tear yourself away from the tiers of cucumber sandwiches and scones in the lobby for a visual journey that starts off as you're led from the welcoming spa reception to the treatment floor via video-walled elevator. Upstairs the wet area is small but effective with "experience showers," from rain to steam. Otherwise, book a spa suite to ensure your own bath with the vista of Hong Kong Island's stunning skyline. (It's the way to see the 8 p.m. laser show, minus camera-toting tourists.) Detailed consultations precede treatments, so you can tell the therapist exactly what you need. Signature body treatments, called Peninsula Ceremonies, are indulgent combinations of tea ceremony, consultation, salt and oil scrub, jade stone massage, body mask and massage, like the Chinese-flavored Yang Soother (HK$2,000). Aromatherapy massages (HK$990) come in seven varieties, according to oils, like the Jet-Lag Eliminator with energizing or soothing oils, while ESPA intensive facials (HK$990) include the regenerating Skin Rescue. |
